Washing Machine Cycles
Washing machine cycles are the way your washing machine determines how it will wash the contents you’ve just put inside it. Whether you are washing that favorite pair of jeans for the 50th time or a new washable sweater for the first time, you have to select an applicable cycle for your machine to wash the item(s) in.
Every washing machine has some standard cycles that you can select from for your particular washing needs. Above and beyond these standard cycles, it really depends on the type of machine you purchase as to how many additional cycles you may get. Some of the top of the line machines offer more sophistication for your washing needs.
From the basic settings, you can typically choose the temperature of the water, the size of the load and whether or not you want the apparel washed on a gentle, permanent press, or normal cycle. The best way to retain the shape, color and texture of your clothing or other washable item is to follow the washing directions that are stamped or attached to the item.
If your item does not have a washing cycle, try to follow a simple rule of whites in hot on regular, light colors in cold on gentle and dark colors in cold on gentle or regular, depending on the type of fabric. Washing cycles are designed to help you maintain your item for many years, providing you select the correct cycle to wash your item in.
